Procedure for Apostille of Japan Marriage Certificate

A Japanese marriage certificate is a document issued by a Japanese government authority, and other foreign government departments cannot directly verify the authenticity of foreign documents. Japan is a signatory to the Hague Convention. When a marriage is registered in Japan and the Japanese marriage certificate needs to be used in another Hague Convention country, relevant government departments may require applicants to provide the Japan marriage certificate with a Hague Apostille.

Steps for Apostille on the Japan Marriage Certificate:

Steps: The Japan marriage certificate needs to be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Hague Apostille. The authentication page from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is used to certify the authenticity of the official’s signature and seal on the marriage certificate, and it includes the signature and seal of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs official.

Processing time: The processing time is 10 business days, excluding shipping time.
