Procedure for Apostille of Japan Police Certificate

If the applicant has previously or is currently residing in Japan for a period exceeding six months and is applying for procedures such as studying abroad or immigration in other Hague Convention countries, the relevant authorities may request the applicant to provide the Japan police certificate with a Hague Apostille.

The Japan Police certificate is issued by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD). Applicants applying for the Japan police certificate need to apply to the local police station of their residence and submit the materials.

Steps for Apostille on the Japan Police Certificate:

Steps: The Japan police certificate needs to be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Hague Apostille. The authentication page from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is used to certify the authenticity of the official’s signature and seal on the police certificate, and it includes the signature and seal of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs official.”

Documents to be apostilled need to be issued within 3 months. If issue date of the certificate is over 3 months, a new hard copy needs to be requested and provided to us. Or you have the option to appoint us to request a new hard copy on your behalf.
